Description
Yurt Rental
A very romantic secluded retreat, Ideally suited for a couple. A Unique Experience in the Gatineau Hills of Val des Monts, Quebec and only 30 minutes from Ottawa. In a gated property on 230 acres of hills, stream and lakes. A beautiful retreat to unwind and relax.
Why stay in a Yurt? A very unique experience, romantic, exclusive. What a story you could tell.Your bedroom is a lovely 19 foot space in the round.

The yurt is 19' across with just over 300 sq. ft. of living space and is located up on a little knoll 200 feet from a lovely little stream. It is accessible by car on a bit of a rough road through a gate that we keep locked. In the winter we will take you there by snow mobile and sled It is relatively central on our property. The only people you will hear is ourselves or guests off to the cabin on our ATV or snow mobile, so it is a very quiet and lonely place.

200' from the yurt is a beautiful little stream with a bit of a pool, 1 to 3' deep depending on the weather, sometimes the stream can be raging, again depending on weather, bring your water shoes and walk up and explore the stream. Between 8 am and 6 pm you will also have access to a dock and canoe on a tiny private 6 acre pond shared with the owners or renters of Lone Wolf Cabin. On this pond is a swimming raft to anchor your canoe and swim from. You also have your own 9' inflatable island, these are for your use. This is located a 10 minute walk away from the yurt.

Inside the yurt there is a very comfy queen bed, down duvet, quilt, table and chairs, couch, rugs and lots of books, puzzles and games, scrabble, cards, cribbage board, as well as a few tea light candles. Bring extra candles if you wish, pillars are great but no tapers please. The yurt is for two persons. Not suitable for children under five. There is a small woodstove inside which will provide the heat for chilly nights as well as a kerosene heater to take the chill out while waiting for your hot bed of coals. In the winter the owner gets the fire started for you so that it is warm when you arrive.
There is a small solar system just to power a few lights, phone charger and the ipod docking station.

Yes we welcome pets. They must be well behaved, not aggressive (as we have two dogs of our own), treated with a flea product and not allowed on the furniture. We ask that you leave the yurt the way you found it.

There is a BBQ as well as a fire pit with plenty of wood to enjoy evening camp fires.

During the 3 seasons there is a darling little 6 by 8 camp kitchen that is very well equipped with tiny two burner gas stove with tiny oven and mid size 7.1 cubic foot propane fridge with tiny freezer, pantry, sink, tap (spring water from a reservoir that is gravity fed) with bucket underneath the sink to be dumped into the grey water pit. Basic spice mixes, salt, pepper, sugar. There is also set of dishes for four, cutlery, bowls, pots, pans, corkscrew, can opener, wine and champagne glasses, pots, pans, well just about everything even a fondue set...bring your own fuel for that. There is a cooler outside that we sometimes use to store bulky and surplus dried goods. The village of Perkins is a 10 minute drive away when you need more provisions or drink, A nice Metro grocer with SAQ.

You will have propane and firewood for the wood stove suppled. There is a Big Berkey Water Filter ( 2 gallons) for your drinking water needs that is gravity fed Just keep it topped up for a continuous supply. Rain water is collected off the camp kitchen roof as well as lake water for showering, dishes and your filtered drinking water. There is an outdoor shower with just enough pressure to ignite the propane hot water for your shower. If this fails there is a manual pressurized pump, heat your water on the stove or you can use the solar bag, hang it in the sun and the water will be hot in a few hours.
A wonderful hammock awaits you.
We encourage you to explore the trails.Anyone that has stayed at any of our rentals will know that this is an awesome site. It is glamourous camping....glamping!

Because of the wool felts, horse hair rope, down duvet and that people bring their pets this may not be a good place to stay for anyone with allergies.

The yurt is a beautiful, warm and cozy authentic Mongolian yurt that is furnished with an eclectic mix of furniture and faux furs. The yurts interior structure that supports the yurt has all been hand cut and split, then beautifully painted in the traditional Mongolian way, coming directly from Mongolia. It is covered first with a thin cotton material, insulated with thick wool felts (which are removed from the walls in the summer, but not the ceiling) and then Tyvec (not traditional but necessary for our climate) and lastly the canvas. This is all tied around with braided horse hair rope.

The top peak has a round window.....which is covered in the winter.............which you can open in the summer. It's luxurious camping.....glamp camping. Follow the wood chipped path lined with hosta to is a clean decorated outhouse

Rates...Minimum 2 nights $300 for 2 persons, 3rd night and up $75 a night. We provide the bedding.
Check in after 2 pm but before dark, check out 11:30
