Description
|
Pender Island is a 45 minute ferry ride from Victoria (making day trips practical) or 2 hours from Vancouver. There are also several ferries per day to other gulf islands such as Saltspring. Pender island has several excellent restaurants, a small supermarket, drugstore, medical clinic, gas station and liquor store. There is public access to excellent swimming at Magic and Roe lakes. The Island has a golf course and a free 27 hole frisbee golf course. Many artists have studios on the island and art and produce are available at a weekly public market as well as several small shops at Hope Bay and Port Washington as well as the Driftwood Center. There are Kayak, bicycle, moped, boat and fishing and diving charters available.
Shingle Bay is very sheltered and is ideal to kayak from. As well as the property's accessible shore, there are two public beaches (one with swings and picnic tables) within a five minute walk, and more beaches and playgrounds a short drive away.

Equipments:
The house is handicap friendly and wheelchair accessible. It has two floors, two bathrooms, three bedrooms and a large gamesroom. There is one king size bed, one queen, and three single beds. Kitchen facilities include stove, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, dishes, pots and silverware. There's also a gas BBQ, washer and dryer. Linen is available for all beds and bathrooms. Beach access stairs and a small dock is available to launch YOUR kayaks. A rowboat is provided. Our roomy five year old home has 1700 sq. ft. of floor space with vaulted ceilings There are 70 feet of decks(one covered) and eight ft. high windows in the vaulted great room. The house overlooks a beautiful quiet sheltered bay across from Canada's newest (Gulf Islands) National Park. The bay has abundant watchable wildlife including otters, eagles, herons and osprey. Situated on a dead end road there is no traffic noise and the house is within walking distance of public beaches, playgrounds and many hiking trails.

Pender Island (Otter Bay) is accessible by car by ferry sailings from both Vancouver (Tsawwassen) and Victoria (Swartz Bay). BC Ferries have regularly scheduled sailings 7 days a week.

The house is located across a small bay from part of the Gulf Islands National Park. Situated well back on a dead end road with only four houses past it provides quiet and privacy. the view over the bay is beautiful and one can spend hours watching ducks otters and eagles. There are playgrounds, a 27 "hole" frizbee golf course as well as an 18 hole conventional course. Many artist shops and all basic stores are available. There are many hiking trails and public beaches + swimming in lakes.
