Advantages and development trend of bus stepper motor
Release Date : 2020-06-18 17:53:03

In the current motion control market, bus-type stepper motor drivers have become mainstream. As the cost of bus-type motor products decreases, it gradually approaches the cost of traditional pulse products. The bus-type stepper motor can achieve the feedback of motor current, voltage, temperature, locked rotor, etc., the change of current and subdivision, s-shaped acceleration and deceleration, analog, synchronous command, offline control and other simple controls. This is a pulse type. Incomparable by the motor.
At the same time, with the openness and transparency of various bus technology indicators, the performance of domestic bus products has also been greatly improved. It can achieve the performance of foreign bus motors compared with the same period of last year, and is gradually recognized by some industry fields in the domestic market.

Compared with the pulse type, the bus-type integrated stepping motor is not only much smaller in size, but also easier to design and install the control system.
For some applications where the requirements are relatively high, the pulse type can no longer meet the demand, and the bus type is required for control. Such as motor application scenarios requiring multiple axes, textile, medical, etc.
Application scenario: A textile factory needs to deploy a motion control system
Requirements: Occupies a small space, makes the equipment stable without interference, and simple control

Solution: Application of STM series integrated stepper motor
Product advantages:
STM series integrated stepper motors are bus-type motors with multi-axis control;
Integrated controller, driver and encoder, small size;
The wiring is simple, only two signal lines and power lines are needed to connect all the motors in series, and there is no signal interference problem;
Low cost, no additional host computer or motion control card is needed to control the stepper motor drive system.
At the same time, some products require torque mode during the movement process. For example, the torque mode needs to be used for the lock screw machine. The pulse type cannot control the motor current to adjust the torque, while the bus type can do it.
With the development of society, the performance requirements of equipment in the automation field are also becoming higher. Various manufacturers of automation industries have launched more optional bus products, of which CAN, CANopen and EtherCAT are the mainstream.
In general, the bus type stepper motor has many new functional characteristics and no disadvantages for the pulse type. The bus type is the development direction and trend of the stepper motor motion control in the future.
